Perched at 74° north, just 900 kilometres from the North Pole, Longyearbyen is the world’s northernmost permanent settlement – a place so remote it feels like you’ve stepped off the edge of the map. With a population barely tipping 1,000, it’s a surreal blend of Arctic wilderness and quirky outpost life.
