        Discovery Sessions

        🗓️ Starts Monday 13th April

         

        Region X Oyster Tasting Kayak Tour Batemans Bay

        learn the art of kayaking and head out to explore nsw south coast  waterways (we know you’ve always wanted to!)

        Our Discovery Session is where participants meet the instructors and paddle buddies, become familiar with the equipment and get to try kayaking! This session starts on shore with us learning a little about each participant’s goals, comfort levels and support needs.

        Following the Discovery Session, participants have the potential to join our 5-week “Just Add Water” development program, where we continue building confidence, comfort, and enjoyment on the water at a pace that suits the group.

        We welcome participants, carers, and support workers, and work closely with everyone involved to ensure each person feels safe, supported, and included throughout the program.

        “Just Add Water” Inclusive Kayaking Program

        Just Add Water 5 week Program Outcomes

        This program introduces participants to kayaking in a safe, supportive, and relaxed environment. Sessions focus on building confidence comfort on the water, learning simple paddling skills, and enjoying time outdoors.

        Participants will become familiar with kayaks and equipment, practice basic paddling, and learn about water safety. Activities may include gentle paddling, exploring local waterways, skill development games  exploration walks, basic rescue and water practice and observing nature.

        The program is flexible and runs at a pace that suits the group. Activities and skills may be repeated across sessions to help participants build confidence and feel comfortable.

        The focus of the program is participation, safety, enjoyment, and spending time on the water together.

        Program sessions run weekly for 3 hours.

        WHAT TO BRING

        • Clothes you’re happy to get wet (activewear)
        • Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses)
        • A warm layer and a beanie in colder months
        • Water shoes, or old sneakers
        • A bottle of water
        • A towel for after

        WHAT WE PROVIDE

        • All the kayaking equipment required
        • Qualified Kayak Instructors
        • Splash jackets
        • Wetsuit for rescue day
        • A Certification of Completion
        • Light refreshments
        • A digital photo album of your experience
