Wildlife Encounters

Finding amazing animals is one of the simple pleasures of kayaking.

Discovery!

This is a ‘Discovery’ program for kayakers with a grasp of the basics, you will learn advanced techniques.

Experience Overview

Location: Batemans Bay Area 

Duration: 1 x 4hrs

  • Review key elements from session 1 as it relates to equipment and skills 
  • Trip planning introduction using weather and conditions review
  • Explore more paddling techniques draw stroke, stern rudders
  • Paddling trip!, enjoying the water, wildlife and practising what we have learnt
  • Practise easy entering, landing and exit techniques 
  • Rescues, towing and capsizing practise!

    Enrol and embark on an exciting adventure enjoying beautiful scenery developing skills, this session will develop confidence and skills to join our social paddle group.

    WHAT TO BRING

    • Clothes you’re happy to get damp (activewear is great!)
    • A wetsuit is recommended for session 2 rescue days
    • Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses)
    • A warm layer and a beanie in colder months
    • Water shoes, or old sneakers
    • A bottle of water
    • A towel for after

    WHAT WE PROVIDE

    • All the kayaking equipment required (welcome to byo for a discount) 
    • Qualified Kayak Instructors
    • Splash jackets
    • A Certification of Completion
    • Light refreshments
    • A digital photo album of your lesson 

    Join for just one session or sign up for both! 

    Our team will advise via email a few days prior where to meet as destination will be weather and tide dependant.

    On these paddles you are welcome to bring your own kayak and equipment, if so – on the payment screen please use the code OWNGEAR and this will give you $30 off for each paddle. We also have a range of kayaks, PFD’s and Paddle equipment for sale in our store if you would like to purchase, please let us know.

     

    If supplying your own kayak please also bring the following:

    PFD, Signalling devices Whistle / Mirror, Paddle, 

    Recommended: Paddle Lanyard, drink bottle, phone dry bag, dry bag 

     

    Minimum of 3 paddlers required for lesson to be confirmed.
